About 18 years ago I met an enlightened teacher who some people call a “guru.” Now hold on, because when I first  “coincidentally,“ met this teacher, I didn’t believe in a guru! About two weeks prior to meeting this teacher I received an email on my computer about why we bow to a guru and I thought what a bunch of crap! But, I thought to myself, let me at least read the email and see what it says.
By the way, this was not from her organization

The email said here in the west people believe when you bow to a “guru,” It is out of respect however It has nothing to do with respect it has to do with anchoring the energy at the feet because the energy is the strongest at the feet. I quite casually and with great enthusiasm, slammed my computer shut and said I don’t believe in any of this!

About two weeks later, I was walking by a church in Manhattan and I saw a flyer outside the church. It spoke about someone giving a lecture and that it was free. It was about love. I thought to myself well why not that sounds good.

When I went inside, there was this woman speaking at the front and the words she was speaking were like something I had a longed for all my life! I hung onto every word she said and about 20 minutes into her talk. I raised my hand to ask a question, I broke down crying and she told me to come up to where she was and I instinctively fell to her feet!

She touched my back, which is called a transmission of Shakti, and I was in an unconditional state of love and Bliss for 2 to 3 hours, everything was love. Everything was infused with love. Everything was blissful. I mean EVERYTHING, the floor, the lights, other people, everything was infused with this blissful essence! It was one of many amazing experiences I’ve had in this lifetime!

As my energy became lower again of course, I found out where she was speaking next and went to see her. Excitedly I approached her and she turned her back and walked away. I was shocked and dismayed. She explained that the reason why she does this is that she doesn’t want you to become dependent on her and that you can become your own guru.

I had no idea what this really meant, but I was willing! The relationship between a guru and a student has many facets to it And I suggest you look into it deeper if my sharing this story has moved you in any way.
